John Ball Zoo Trip

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Every year the 4th grade takes an exciting, all-day field trip. This year, we will be visiting the John Ball Park Zoo. Our trip is scheduled for Friday, May 26th. We will be leaving at 6 a.m. and returning around 5 p.m. The sheer magnitude of this trip requires incredible planning and it ends up being the highlight of each student’s school year! The purpose of this letter is to give parents and guardians an early opportunity to express interest in volunteering to chaperone this field trip.

We always receive an enormous volume of requests to chaperone this event. This year is no exception and we greatly appreciate all that parents do for us! This year, we are asking for a total of 5 parent chaperones per classroom. Due to the distance of this trip we charter tour busses which have limited seating. With approximately 100 students (presently) and 4 teachers, seating becomes a critical issue. Children must ride the bus; however, parent chaperones are asked to drive separately (Carpooling is a great help!). ALL chaperones and parents attending the trip will be responsible for their own transportation and meal expenses.

We have funding for 5 chaperones per class. These chaperones will be randomly selected by the classroom teachers and Mr. Moore. They will have program and admission fees to the zoo waived. If you would still like attend the trip, and are not selected, you are welcome to join us, but be aware that you will have to pay the $7.00  entry fee to the zoo. In addition, due to limited space, the zoo has advised us that only the five chaperones per class will be allowed in the 45 minute programs we are scheduled to do.

If you would like to volunteer to chaperone this event please sign up using the bottom of this form, cutting off the bottom portion. We request all volunteer forms be turned in no later than Friday, May 5th. We will be randomly selecting names from each class for those who will join us with their fees waived.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter. More specific information will be coming home in the next couple weeks regarding this field trip. Please feel free to direct any additional questions to your child’s teacher.

Sincerely,
Ms. Day, Miss Homant,
Mr. McCarty, and Mrs. Raymond
