Reading Logs, M-STEP Testing, and Data

Dear Families,

Happy Friday! Or as we like to say it here, Happy Fri-YAY!

Just a few updates and reminders that we would like to share with you. First, reading logs will no longer be sent home on Fridays. Students are still expected to read daily for 20 minutes at home, but I am trusting my students to do this without handing in a reading log with a parent signature. Today we spoke about how important reading is, and how reading 20 minutes daily helps to increase vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Overall, these students are more successful in and out of the classroom.  Please check out the nifty little comparison sheet on the back side of this letter to see how daily reading affects your child.

Next, we will continue M-STEP testing next Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure that your child is getting plenty of sleep and eating a hearty breakfast the day of (and always, of course)! Please remember that breakfast is provided here at the school for free, but students must get their food before going outside for morning recess and before heading to the classroom.

Last, check out our NWEA growth from fall to spring. I am so incredibly proud of how hard our kiddos have worked. Please remember that your child has been assigned a specific number, ask them to share it with you! Also, check out more of our data in the tab labeled “Our Data” up at the top of our blog to see benchmark norms and our amazing growth!

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks so much,
Mrs. Raymond
