This week is spirit week. The theme is Disney.
Monday is Mickey Mouse Colors Day.
6th grade wears yellow. 7th grade wears red. 8th grade wears black and white.
Tuesday is Ohana Day. Ohana is Hawaiian and means family.
Wednesday is Woody Wednesday.
Thursday is dress as a Disney Character Day.
Friday is Blue and White Day- show your school pride!
We Will Know: vitals - blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiratory rate.
We Will Understand: That medical detectives investigate their cases by taking vitals.
We Will Be Able To: To take vitals for self and others to help determine what is happening in the body.
9/17/18- Monday
1. Cut and glue the Experimental Design into your engineering notebook.
2. Last yoga rotation/catch-up!
3. Review lesson 1 Essential Questions- Answer all lesson 1 questions with a partner
4. Review all answers as a class. Revise answers as needed.
5. Read the Career Connections and watch "Breaking News" video.
9/18/18-Tuesday
1. Begin Lesson 1.2: Essential Questions
a. What can patient signs and symptoms tell us about what’s happening in the human body?
b. How do medical detectives investigate their cases?
2. Introduction and using the Experimental Design Process- lesson 1.2- 30 minutes
a. question 1 and practice sheets with a partner
b. review as a class
3. Research a question to their Experimental Design with a partner
4. Design the experiment to test their hypothesis
9/19/18- Wednesday
You will have a sub for the day. Thank you for being on your best behavior. Participation points will be doubled today.
1. Watch the 'What is Forensic Science' under the Medical Detectives tab (on the blog) and fill out the chart. Please glue this into your notebook and title it. Please remember to fill out your table of contents.
2. Continue to research a question for your Experimental Design.
3. Begin to design the experiment to test your hypothesis (use the paper you glued into your notebook on Monday to begin your planning- fill this sheet out!)
4. Discuss and plan with your partner what you may need to have in order to carry out your experiment. You will carry out your experiment on Thursday. If you need certain tools or materials for your experiment, please bring them in on Thursday! Please do not purchase anything to carry out your experiment. Use items that you have at home or items that are readily available (music, images).
9/20/18- Thursday
1. Continue to design the experiment to test your hypothesis and carry out your experiment.
2. Analyze your data and observations
3. State a conclusion, write your summary and answer the conclusion questions.
4. Begin creating a presentation to share your experimental design. Use the rubric provided to guide you. You and your partner will present your experimental design and what you have learned with the class on Friday.
9/21/18-Friday
1. Begin student presentations.
2. Review the conclusion questions and essential questions. Make any revisions if necessary.
3. Partner reflection.
